Knocking when going up curbs or shifting from reverse to drive - 1987 - 240 200

I have recently noticed a knocking or popping noise when I go up curbs or shift from reverse to drive. It isn't every time, but most of the time. I replaced the front end bushings, struts, and brakes last fall. The only thing I didn't replace were the strut mounts. I did notice that they were old and cracked, but didn't have any to replace them at the time so I didn't worry too much about it.

I pulled a couple mounts that looked pretty good a couple weeks ago but I haven't had time to put them on yet. Also I have done nothing to the rear bushings, but the sounds seems to be coming from the front anyway.

Advice? Do I need to grease the top of the struts when I put in new mounts?
