Tips requested to mount the hood mascot on a PV 444-544

Hello PVers,
Thanks to one of our own, Paul Malloy, I was able to purchase a reproduction PV hood mascot on eBay (thanks Paul). For some unknown reason it comes without the plexiglass insert. I went on-line & found a fellow in Utah who made one up for me for $15. Attached a photo of the finished product. What do you think?
All that remains now is to properly mount it. I found one (1) photo of a mounted PV hood mascot, which is shown below. A couple of questions, please. First, it doesn't seem right that the front support is metal to metal with the hood. Anyone address before ie adding some kind of grommet to protect the hood, while still keeping the aesthetics? Also, the rear mounts, from the photo it doesn't appear that there is any protection there, either. Suggestions?
Anyone have any better photos of a hood mascot? That would be great. The one below is the ONLY one I was able to find on the internet.
Thanks.
