The Triangular plate at the Cat can be replaced with either an aftermarket part (I have seen these in Muffler Shop trade Magazines) or by making a template and having it cut by a local shop out of A36 settl plate (1/8" or 3/16" should do it) and welding it on to the pipe end *either the down pipe of the Cat*

If you have a local metal shop it should be a no brainer for them.
