95 940 Fuel pump mystery 900 1995

95 940 Bosch with single in tank fuel pump. I purchased #9445444 as it appears appropriate for this year/model and dealership confirmed via VIN.

I have the sending unit out and immediately noticed the pump currently in place is MUCH larger. Perhaps a 740/940 Regina single pump. The mounting clips are placed the same on my new smaller pump so it looks like it will snap right in. And the fuel guage has never worked since I bought it. Looks like its because the larger(read longer) pump has slightly constricted the movement of the sliding piece by overly elongating the rubber hose(maybe a longer hose used)....hmmm. Anyone know the OE length of the rubber hose for this year and model(95 w/single pump Bosch). Here are pics, Any thoughts.
