Engines not getting fuel

I have a 1990 volvo 240 dl which I parked and 12 hours later went out to start and nothing dead. I have noticed i do not hear any hum from the fuel pump so i replaced the fuel pump relay didn't help so next course of action i pulled out the fuel pump and hooked it up to another 12v source and it pumped like a champ. So clearly the pump is not getting electrical power, the fuses are fine and a brand new relay. Any ideas guys? Ready to try anything.
