1975 164 exhaust valve/ball stud issue 140-160

Okay, took the valve cover off because there is at times noises. I careful inspection show there is some play when the exhaust valve open. To me it seems like there is more play then should be there. I don't know. I thought at first the ball studs were chopped up, but another look shows they are all about the same size and nothing broken. Is there any way to maybe tighten the ball stud in order to take out some play? Never messed with this engine before. The manual is silent on any valve adjustments. Any help would be appreciated. Muchos gracias.
