Towing question 200 1985

I've used my 1980 245 w/M46 to tow many cars--some quite a distance--NY to NC-and back-144S, 245, Duster. I use a tow bar. Acceleration is a relative term while towing so you have to give yourself plenty of space entering the Interstates but once up to speed (typically 65-75mph) it just cruises along--I've even used overdrive a lot on I-78 and I-81. Never had a problem with the brakes but I do use care. My mpg drops from 27-29 or so to 20-22mpg (using premium for towing--regular otherwise). -- Dave
