92 240 - starter not turning 200

I hate these.

My daughter's 92 240 has been running ok - but the starter's bendix seems to be going out. If the starter had to turn over more than a few times, it would seem to slip. I was able to get it running most times, but not what you want for your kids!!!

So I bought a refurbed Autozone (yea, yea I know - but they sucker you in with that lifetime warranty) and installed it. When I went to start the car all the proper bells and lights and fuel pump noises came on - but when I turned the key - Nothing!!!

Thinking I might have got it bound or something, I double checked the wiring and loosened, wiggled the starter and retightened the bolts. - still nothing.

So thinking I got a piece of crap from Autozone - I pulled off the new one and put the old one back on - Now it's doing the same thing. All the proper lights and sounds, but when I turn the key to P3 - nothing.

I mean it is only 2 large hot wires and a 1 wire for the ignition switch!!! What could I have done wrong this time???

Thanks
Charles
