1990 740 air conditioning

the ac has given up the ghost. the evaporator has a leak. the system was converted some time ago to the new refridgerant. at that time the compressor was also replaced. they did a good job on the conversion as it lasted for 7 years before the evaporator gave up.

i'm thinking of building a new ac system in this great old 740, starting from scratch. that might allow me to correct some of the deficiencies of the 22 yr old stock system. we need all the ac we can get down here in florida.

has anybody out there done this and what advice would they have for me?

thanks, chris
