Intake Hose 700 1991

I had to replace the intake line going from intake manifold to air sensor tube. For the life of me I can't get it to go on the air sensor tube. I have ground it, heated it. I finally had to put duck tape around it and clamp both sides of the tape. Anyone have any suggestions?
