brake lights S90-V90 1998

Do you get 12V on the Yellow-Brown wire at the 24-pin Black connector near that rear bulb failure warning sensor when you push the brake pedal? If not, check fuse No.3 (11C/3) in the fuse-and-relay box behind the popout cover at the left end of the dash. This is the 3rd fuse from the bottom in the left row of fuses. It feeds the brake switch.

If you do get 12V on the Y-BN wire, problems are downstream. The factory diagrams show that there is no intermediate connector between the bulb failure unit and the main brakelights, they are hardwired together.
