Converting a later M46 to cable speedometer drive 200 1979

Hi all,

I searched and found a lot of info on M46 (and slushbox) conversions to M47, but can't seem to find any info on what I want to do. Here is the project in a nutshell: I want to put a 740T drivetrain with M46 into my 242GT. Both cars have an M46 gearbox, but the 740 has electric speedometer drive, while the 242 has a cable drive.

Can I assume that this will involve converting the 740's M46 to cable drive using parts I can pull from the 242's M46, or is there something I am missing? Yes, I know there are lots of other aspects to this conversion, but this is the specific one I am up against a wall on. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers!

~Sam
