Volvo 240/260 Strut Mount Round Up ... What Strut Mounts You Use(d) 200

In all of my changing of parts on 240s, I've never actually replaced a strut mount. I'm currently restoring my 242GT and the strut mounts in it were fine. I'm replacing many other parts on the car, but when I took the suspension apart, the bearings still turned nicely and the rubber was still how it should be. The metal was surface rusted, so I ground it off and repainted them, but that's it.

I guess my point is that the ORIGINAL ones were stellar and I've heard nothing but problems with the replacement ones, except maybe the Boges. If I do have one go out at some point, I'll just get those. My old 1986 240DL, that I sold with over 350,000 miles on it, still had the original strut tops. I even raced that car some. I replaced every other bit of the suspension, but never had those go bad.

Just my experience, but that might be why so few folks are chiming in on this one.

Nate
