Has anyone used these panels to repair rusted rear fenders? 200

Brickboard,

My 1990 240 wagon still runs great but the rear fender wells on both sides are all but gone. The plastic mud flaps are hanging onto rust. I ran onto this patch kit today. For less that $40 it seems too good to be true. I think the only reasonable repair is going to involve cutting the rust out and welding good preformed metal of some kind in. This type of patch kit would be perfect. Have any of you used this part or one like it?
