If ... and this is the critical if ... your fuel tank is at 1/3 full or less*, then the problem might be with the little rubber hose (about 2" long) connecting the in-tank (or transfer) pump to the metal fuel line that also holds your fuel gauge sender.
[ * if you're going uphill, then this may arise when the fuel level is as much as 1/2 full.]

Your symptoms, as you describe them, sound like fuel starvation, and before you go for a new main fuel pump and filter, you should eliminate this alternative possibility. Yes, your car is a little to new to normally develop this problem, but the hose's deterioration could be exacerbated by bad gas, or gas with a lot of oxygenating additives (like a high ethanol content) that more quickly breaks down the rubber.

Quick test to confirm (or deny): fill up your tank above 1/2 full. If the symptoms go away, you've found your culprit. This problem of a bad hose only shows when the fuel's surface is below the hose (as noted above, the road's slope can affect this).
