leaking fuel pressure regulator, as far as we know...... 200

Finally figgered out why the '88 240 was gettin harder and harder to start especially when warmed up, after sitting a while. Yesterday started so hard, smoking, took a spin around block and whew it stunk like very very rich stinking unburned gas. Heard about this in FAQs, almost ordered the cheapest imaginary fix, the engine coolant sensor thinking it was toast, and cheap. Then we looked where it was located, duh....maybe we should check something else before busting knuckles and taking half the intact side thingees off.

Lo and behold!, pulled the vacuum line off fuel pressure regulator, right there on top on engine staring us in the eye, and gas dribbled out.....pulled the other end off intake manifold and the same only more, and we figured, gas was being sucked right into manifold for some time causing the now really bad rich condition.....

so, having visited the junkyard before all the 240s were scrapped by some idiot a few years back, had a regulator off a '90 240, didn't know if it would work, put it on, and vuella, started right up, ten minute spin got the ECU thinking correctly, and now we're off down the road......just thought we'd share something that may possibly have happened to others......

don't know if using a '90 regualtor is permitted, or for how long it'll work, maybe we'll buy a new one, oops, they're very xpensive.......we're not buying parts that cost more than the car......later Brickheads......
