240 Hot start and stalling problems

Hi Jeff,

A search of the brickboard and a service manual using your symptoms may help you.

Check the OBD-1 code display thingy box using the procedure here from the FAQ.

http://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/EngineOBDCodes.htm

Check the codes on each socket (2 and 6) using the probe. Repeat until you have all codes. May reveal a faulty temp, CPS, or other sensor, or a fuel system or ignition problem.

You may have a:
- Leaking fuel rail Fuel Pressure Regulator.
- Faulty fuel pump or pumps. (Encounter any really hot or blow fuses for the fuel pump? Locate the fuse inside the fuse box by position.)
- Something else Fawlty (Towers featuring John Cleese)

Speculation on my part may require quite some text that I don't want to write now.

Gather your codes, do some research, and some diagnosis, and post back to this thread so we can all better help you.

If not already, I hope you have a Bentley Bible for Volvo 240, the Volvo OEM Factory Service Manual for Volvo 240, or, at the very last, the omitting and sometimes inaccurate (watch fluid spec and front wheel hub serving) Haynes for 240 manual.

Hope that helps. Please report back with your findings.

cheers,
