Odometer Repair 200 1992

While test driving the 245 after replacing the head gasket, the odometer stopped working. Aren't I lucky?

So yesterday I removed the instrument cluster and opened up the odometer motor. I found that the 25 tooth gear was broken. I fortunately have a spare cluster in the garage, so I was able to swap in a replacement gear.

I hooked everything up and went for a test drive. The trip odometer moved 1/10th of a mile and then everything froze again.

Discouraged, I ate some ice cream and took a nap.

So what gives?

I'll open it back up and see if the gear broke again I guess....
