Okay - so I just got off the phone with an elderly lady who is looking to sell her husband's 1983 Volvo 760 GLE. I had responded to an ad about the car in Hemmings Motor News.
After talking with the woman, I found out that her husband recently passed away, which is the main reason she is selling the Volvo. He had bought it brand-new back in 1983, and from what she was describing, it sounded as if both of them had pampered it from day one. The 760 has 96k original miles on it, and she told me that all service was done at their local Volvo dealer in Delaware. She also informed me that the car has never been modified in any way, and that the drivetrain is original.
Now for a serious question for you all - in all honesty, how much do you think the car is worth? I mean, it's got the dumpy PRV B28F V6 so that could be a turnoff for a lot of people. She told me it was appraised at $6,500, and that's what she's starting at. I think that is an absolute joke. There is no way a 1983 Volvo, let alone the first year of the 700 Series, could bring more than $6,000. How much should I offer, seriously?
