Blowing fuse #8, windows won't raise and it's going to rain soon....lol 900

Greetings.

1993 na 940 sedan 265k miles

1. windows would not raise, rear two are open a few inches, so I checked fuse #8 and it was blown.
2. changed it out and started the car. windows would not raise. checked, and fuse #8 was blown again.
3. pulled the driver's door switch panel from parts car. changed it out. changed the #8 fuse. never touched the switch, fuse blew as I turned the key.
4. pulled the relay, opened it, looks pristine inside

What's the problem? I'm going back to my parts car for the window relay, and I'll swap it out with this one, but I'm not sure how the relay would cause the fuse to blow. If the relay were bad nothing would happen. Right?

I am clueless to continue. Never had luck finding shorts, or open contacts, only in the cluster.
