Dash preservation 101.... 200

You can preserve - keep it out of the sun, rub with vinyl conditioners, keep it out of extreme heat and (more importantly) extreme cold - but once the damage is done, it is done. I have found perfect dashes in the junk yard that have cracked after a few weeks in use.

The jacking thing is pretty ridiculous. What cracks a dash (every time, in my experience) is the contraction that comes from very cold days. After the vinyl is degraded/stiffened from UV exposure, it splits. Get used to it.
