I have both beat a slight lip bend straight and used JB Weld to fix road rash. The thing to worry about straightening an alloy rim is unseen cracks, I wouldn't try to fix a badly bent rim.

JB Weld does a very good job of fixing rash 'till a tire shop hits it just right mounting a tire, then it may/will come off.
