light rear-end knocking sound 200 1989

Welcome aboard!

How long has this noise been happening? If it goes longer, and you notice the range of speed it happens at increasing, there is a very good possibility it is the drive shaft u-joints, specifically the rear joint. This happened to me with both the noise and vibration. The best thing to do, would be to replace both, if you replace one. They are not that expensive (even by my cheap-ass standards). I personally hate throwing money (parts) at a problem only to find out it was wrong, (but you do end up with many more new parts that way) but in this case because they are so cheap, do it. Good luck.
