1980's Volvo 2.25'' Accessory Tachometer Usable With Older Points Ignition ? 140-160

There is a fairly common 1980's Volvo accessory tachometer (part # 1343594-6), 2''/52mm in diameter, mostly seen on Volvo 240 models which use electronic ignition.

That tach generally gets installed in one of the spare gauge openings found besides the main instrument cluster.

Can that tach also be made to work on older 'points ignition' Volvo models (120, 1800, 140...)?

If so, any idea of how to wire it?
