Special Tools Req'd? 140-160 1971

I'm new to the 140 series, and have been studying my greenbook repair manual. There seems to be an awful lot of Special Tools required for many repairs. I'm familiar with the handful of OEM Special Tools needed for some of the 240 repairs and adequate "homebrew" methods/substitutes, etc., but not so much for the 140 series. Speaking generally, are all or many of these Special Tools really required? Or are there similar substitutes as with the 240 series? Any Special Tools that are absolutely required? This will be for a ground up restoration of a 1971 145 that I will be starting soon. If some of these tools are required, where can I find them? The Volvo Special Tool website does not appear to list any for the 140 series.
