any recommendations for reputable replacement AMMs 200 1988

My '88 recently had problems with its AMM.

I was able to get a working original replacement and am now wondering what options there are for finding myself a backup unit. The yard I found locally only had the one.

Reports on rebuilds are dismal.

The original equipment is a
Bosch
0 280 212 007

Any suggestions to resources that have been found reliable to ship an original equipment, known to have been working, AMM?

Reading indicates there different #s are not interchangeable as they are also changes in the ECU.
Do you know this to be true and of any exceptions?
