Catalytic Converters...year specific? 200 1985

I have an 85, 2.3, manual.

I'm thinking about buying an 82, 2.1 AT.

the 82 has a new converter (according to the ad) and I was wondering if it would be one I could put on my car?

Not saying that that is the reason I'd buy it, but as an added bonus. It appears, physically, to be in nicer shape than mine. Of course, I've replaced a lot of the annoying things that go bad on mine already, and don't have an idea if the 82 would be anything more than a complete donor car...
