New 544 Project in Houston 444-544

It's been a long time since I've posted on the board, but I am about to start another 544 project and wanted to re-introduce myself. I recently towed home a 1965 PV544 with a rebuilt motor, transmission and carbs. The car was originally from Arizona, so it's relatively rust free in all the usual areas that my other two 544's have suffered from rust in.

The previous owner had a blueprinted B18 engine, M40 tranny and SU carbs rebuilt by John Huizenga in Laughlin, Nevada. After spending a princely sum for the rebuild and shipping back to Texas, it was never installed into the car.

I hope to keep a running thread with pictures of our progress. The final intention is to make it a reliable driver, not a garage queen. Orginality is not particularly important. Economy and reliability are what we are after. I will be posting with questions as things come up with the project.

Currently I need to find a front nose piece with B18 radiator supports in serviceable shape. The current piece that came with the car is about 50% bondo and my donor car's piece is just about as bad. I plan to do an inventory and time-table for the project this weekend.
