Right ball joint doesn't last 200

I had the entire front suspension rebuilt about 6 years ago. This included outer tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearings, and struts. I started working from home around the same time, so the car has been driven only 30,000 miles since 2007. The roads are not great around here but I would expect a ball joint to last longer...the right (passenger) side wheel has a ton of play and clunks like hell.

I went back and looked through my service records. I've had the car since 1990 and I've replaced that right ball joint *six* times. Left one has only been replaced twice. Has anyone else encountered this? I am pretty good about not jamming the wheel into the curb. Thinking it might just be a crappy design or underspec'd parts.
