Perhaps this is a thread which no one wants to see, but it's tire time in western PA and I need a consensus of what currently is the best tire to run on a 240.
The last time I tired-up, I went with what I was familiar and bought 20 Michelin X's from Sam's Club.
My sweet wife started to complain about the new tires shortly after we had a couple of sets mounted up. At the time, I told her that any problems she was having were due to operator error - after all, these were Michelins we were talking about. The other day, I got to experience the source of her complaints when she skidded to a stop on a damp road surface. After my requisite, "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!!!" she had the opening to reply,"NOW, do you believe me?"
According to my gearhead buddy, Terry, The Mad Hungarian, Michelins have given up traction for wear. So, after decades of buying what WAS a known quantity, I'm searching for an alternative.
Can anyone recommend a daily driver tire which will give DECENT wear and GOOD traction? Nothing exotic, just something appropriate to the nature of a 240.
Thanks, one and all,
Rich - Near Pittsburgh
