Mrs Klankenborg hates hot weather 200 1991

Hi y'all, been awhile. Still driving Mrs K around. She's behaving like a Swede lately when the temperatures get much over 85-90F in stop n go traffic, and she goes "ooofda!" and gives up. Engine doesn't exactly die but doesn't go either. Sitting by the side of the road with the hood up for 20-30 minutes will cool things down enough to drive her another few miles until she heat-strokes out again. This makes for a very long drive home from work on hot days. She is not overheating at all, according to the temperature gauge. Problem does not happen at highway speeds regardless of temperature.

My suspicion is a weak noisy external fuel pump coupled with nasty E10 fuel boiling and vapor-locking under lower-than-normal fuel pressure. Ya think that's a reasonable assessment? The in-tank pump was replaced about two years ago along with the fuel level sender.
