Head Gasket Repiair: 1993 Volvo 940

I have a 1993 Volvo 940. I noted a slight external coolant leak apparently coming from the Head gasket. There have been no signs of any coolant leaking into the oil as the oil is clear and the exhaust shows no signs of smoke or steam due to colant entering any of the cylinders. Instead of completely removing the cylinder head and replacing the gasket, are there any other means of repair such as putting aluminum powder in the coolant reservoir to plug the leak? I only have to replenish about 4 ounces of coolant every 50 miles or so.... Is there any danger in adding the aluminum powder stop leak to try to repair what appears to be a minor pinhole?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
