I've been trying to get my project car running. A 1971 145 w/ B20b. I cleaned rebuilt the carbs and verified that the fuel pump is working and delivering fuel to the carbs, and that fuel mixture is making it unto the manifold. I've verified spark at each plug. I've set the points ignition to spec. .016", I've identified the correct firing order of the plug wires and I've set the timing as best I know how according to the procedures set out at this website: http://sw-em.com/Volvo%20Ignition%20from%20Scratch.htm
It cranks, but still no start. The car sat for many years, but the prior owner claims to have had it running about 1.5 years ago. I'm admittedly a novice and may be missing something simple, so any guidance here is much appreciated. The plugs/wires are new, the coil is new, the distributor is old (but the centrifugal advance appears to be ok - I can turn rotor CCW about 20 deg. and it returns smoothly - I does move CW just a 'notch' so could that be a problem?). The cap and rotor are also old, but they look practically new and I believe they were put on new by the previous owner when he was getting it running, so have very little use.
