Wiper linkage woes 200 1986

Just bought an 86 240 from someone who should not be allowed to own wrenches. Wiper motor was half missing, so I got a used motor and installed it. Left wiper rises about 6" and drops. Right just twitches a bit. A long time ago I fought with the cables on a previous 240, but my fat hands didn't fit, so wifey did the work. She doesn't recall what she did. The cam appears to be connected to the shaft. I'd rather not remove the dash. Pics would be helpful as well as any specific 'tricks' to get this old beater back on the road. Odo broke at 307xxx and she runs and drives like a champ as long as it isn't raining.
Thanks!
