240 steering rack 200 1987

I have three questions re: steering racks on volvo 245: Question one: The Vin Number code for the vehicle states that it takes zf rack, but when I bought the car three years ago it had the cam style rack. How common is this for someone to change out the system like that? Question Two: the rubber boots are zf style, and the right side has been leaking fluid. I just tightend it up. How normal is it for the boots to have fluid in them? Just put in some lucas. Question three: Since it looks like I will probably have to replace the rack soon, does it make sense to go back to the zf style, or to keep the cam style? Thanks for any insight in advance.
