Radiator Fan Switch 900

Well my trusty non turbo 93 wagon needed a new radiator and I had my mechanic put it in. Apparently, however, he did not put in the radiator fan switch but left the plug in the radiator where the fan switch goes. He mentioned that he thought on the later 940 wagons the radiator fan switch wasn't used. I have heard something like this before but I am wondering just how hard is it to pull the plug out and install this switch? How easy is it to get the plug out and get the switch back in there>

Thanks
