a few questions on the broken omaha clutch cable job 200

hi sages- read todays thread on the marooned posters broken clutch cable in omaha. got me thinking on my own 92 245.need some advice from one who has tonde this job. keep a new cable under the seat if i get marooned among wall to wall shysters. it is a pioneer(italy) and looks pretty good and measures exactly. if it busts half way to hell flats ,think i can do the job myself on the side of the garden state parkway. have replaced a few z bars and clutch fork rods , but never a cable type. 1st Q- when these things go is it usually at the tip where it connects to the fork or the tip at the clutch pedal end? if the cable usually breaks inside the sheath, wondering if it would be cheap insurance to use a needle nose greaser and force grease inside the sheath from the end-smart? 2d Q- looks like the whole job would take 1 hour and require a needle nose pliers, vise grip and maybe a thin long flat head screw driver. am i missing anything? thanks tons oldduke
