I have had two 87 240's. They take the bullet style. One time it broke off like your situation and I just got a two way bullet, crimped the wire on one end and the bullet just snapped onto the sender. Pretty sure it was a blue 16/18 gauge size, but not 100% sure. Would not hurt to pick up a yellow 12/14 gauge bullet just in case.
