Rough running mystery 200 1993

I have been running my 93 for about a year with the check engine light on. Slight exhaust leak upstream from O2 sensor.
Car runs fine until I have to disconnect the battery. After I reconnect the battery, check engine light is off and runs very rough for 10-20 miles. Then light comes back on and runs fine. Not a problem. Just a mystery. My theory is computer is reprogramming. Any ideas?
