Hi all,
First, I have '92 240 sedan with 173,000 miles.
So tonight I was at a restaurant and came out after about 2 hours (so the car was fairly cold) to head home and the car wouldn't start. It didn't turn over when I went to start it, and white smoke came out of the middle of the driver's side of the hood for about 3-5 seconds – I've included a photo of the area the smoke was coming from just so that there is no confusion.
It drove to the restaurant fine, and hasn't had a bit of trouble for years. Spark plugs, wires, and distributor were done 20,000 miles ago. The battery has a good charge across the terminals, and everything on the dash lights when the key is in.
I can hear the fuel pump humming when the key is in as well.
Before I have it towed, what should I be checking? 25-Amp fuse holder? Coil/Coil Wire?
Wish I could provide more information; My girlfriend was able to pick me up just a couple of minutes after it happened, so I didn't have much of a chance to check things out.
I will be back there at 8am CST so I can feed the meter! I can report back then.
Thanks for all the suggestions in advance!
