Fuse 16 blowing, no instrument cluster lighting, no RH tail light 200 1987

You should try to fix it, whether for you that means re-attaching it or replacing the wiring or lamp socket. The light in the shift indicator is a legal requirement for safety. Maybe find some nimble-fingered help; it is pretty cramped inside. You can knock the knob of the shifter to get easier access. Just pull out the OD switch and bump up the knob with a close-fitting open end wrench from underneath. Put a bag over the knob so you don't have to go chasing the button and spring. http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=1082095

How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?
