Slight 'click' in steering wheel after turning wheels all the way to side in my 940 900

Hey there everybody!

I just bought my 'brick' this week, a 1991 940 Turbo wagon. I've been soaking up the knowledge on this site, helped me to fix a couple of glitchy things already.

This is a very well maintained car...the Volvo specialist I took it to for a pre-purchase inspection told me he couldn't believe how perfect it was for the year and mileage (not that high, only 156K).

One of the things many folks appreciate about these cars is the tight turning radius; however, I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and this require me to curb my wheels when I park on a hill. I did this yesterday, the power steering had been working fine up until this moment, but when I turned the wheel all the way to the right there was a clunk and a squeal...not good...and now when I'm driving on the freeway, there is a noticeable 'click', a gap, occasionally when I turn the wheel slightly to make a lane change or whatever.

It does not affect the drivability, the car still tracks straight and true. Is this a safety issue, or something I need to spend a bunch of $$ on before it gets worse? Or can I live with it for a while? Would something siimple like flushing the system help?
