Rerouting d+ and oil pressure wires. No big gray connector on '93. 200 1993

Hello all,
Wires from the alternator need replacing, so I thought I would go ahead and reroute the d+ and OP wires away from the B+ wire and the heat of the engine. After searching for info about this topic here on the board, I discovered that '93s don't have the big gray connector at the firewall that was mentioned as the ideal access point for locating the wires and crimping the new one, etc. All the wires are wrapped and fed through the firewall directly. I've looked at the wiring diagram and am wondering if I can just follow the wires from where they connect at the instrument cluster and just crimp the new wires inside the dash instead of in the engine compartment. Any insights?

Thanks,
William
