Water leak from body seam 700

My daughter's 1987 744T has been leaking water into the driver's footwell. While she was visiting this weekend I removed the panel above the driver's feet and the panel just below the dash and went to work with a garden hose. I'd expected to find a windshield leak, but instead I found the leak at the body seam just below the windshield on the driver's side. Once I found the leak I pulled the cowl piece which fits over the wiper motor and linkage. If you look inside the yellow ellipse you can barely see a dark line which was the source of the leak. I wire brushed it and applied caulking.

The leak is stopped. I pulled up the water soaked foam backed rubber mat and dried everything with a hair dryer. Fortunately there were no rust problems.
