clunk on startup/between gears--transmission mounts worn? {240} 󞩵] 200 1989

Hi folks, I'm new to the list. I have a 1989 standard transmission 240 wagon with about 280k (odometer broke a while ago), and I'm getting a clunk from the front on engaging 1st and between 1st and 2nd. If I am reeeeaally soft with the clutch I can avoid the clunk, but any moderately quick shift will give a clunk. The car doesn't shake or anything at any speeds, so it doesn't sound like motor mounts from what I have read, but how about the transmission mounts?

Cheers,
John
