Oil in Steering Rack Boot, is that normal? 900

I'm replacing the steering rack arms and when I pulled back the steering rack boots oil poured out (more on one side than the other). Is this a serious problem? Also, I was interested in rebuilding a steering rack, just to learn how to do it and use a honing tool, but I can't find parts or instructions. Has anyone done this before and does anyone know any resources if I wanted to do this? I think at one point I saw a rebuild kit for for ~$190 which is pretty expensive. Should I forget about rebuilding it and just add some stop-leak into the system?
