Swap out an automatic heater control for a manual 900 1991

I have a 91 940SE turbo wagon with the ECC Automatic)climate control system. I find there are delays in response to fan speed/temperature selection etc.

I also have a 91 740 turbo wagon with the MCC (manual) system. It works flawlessly.

They both appear to have the identical vacuum hose lines/block feeding them.

Both have the A/C disconnected.

Can I swap in a manual heater control for the auto. type? If so has anyone done this or know what changes need to be made?

cheers ian
