Seat covers 200 1984

Hi folks,

The last step in the complete overhaul of the interior of my 1984 244 (sedan) is the seat covers. I currently have tired brown fabric covers and I need it changed to black, probably vinyl. Perhaps some cloth as well if it's really nice.

I am talking about actual replacement upholstery, not slip on covers.

Custom upholstery is out of my range and will be for a while.

Regarding the front seats, is there a definite word on any difference of shape between 86+ and older (in the seat back), as well as a difference in position of the holes for the headrests? Or in other words, will a cover made for a more recent car fit an 84 or not?

Also, has anyone tried vinyl/upholstery paint on their vinyl or cloth seats and with what kind of results?

Some replicas of original upholstery can be found online, but they are most likely matched to more recent cars, and not in the color I need, hence the specific questions...(and the fact that the replica covers are not available for the rear seat...).

Thanks!
