Hi, does anyone know the gap setting for autolite copper core spark plugs?
could this be the reason for car not starting? 90 Volvo 240 DL was running fine, but I did the new to us post and my son and I wanted to go through all the basic maintenance for our car. We flushed coolant(which we did wrong) and after that she was running even hotter than normal (for past couple months since we had her she ran hot,but never red line) so this time we did a flush (the correct way) put in a new thermostat, new spark plugs and a new rotor, had Jake attempt to start the car and I was standing ready to start adding the coolant, and it won't start. We re-did all the connections on the distributor caps and re-checked gap settings (0.045") and its turnover was a lot better but still wouldn't start. I pushed down on the boots on the distributor cap and Jake tried starting it, and I thought it sounded even better, but still no start. So here are a couple questions
1. could I need a new distributor cap?
2. could the wrong gap setting make it not start?
3. could having the radiator cap off make it not start (I know that sounds stupid, but I was thinking maybe it could effect compression)
4. if we put the thermostat in wrong could that make it not start?
I am going over to the page I made for our car on facebook https://www.facebook.com/freerangebrick and post the couple vids I took of her trying to turn over. Any help is appreciated,
