Catalytic converter setup swap question 200 1992

Here's my present issue. The '92 240 I just bought is throwing the O2 sensor codes. It appears that also it still has the original Cat installed. Is there any reason why removing its set up from the exhaust manifold back and swapping it out with the one from my '86, which is almost all new, even though the O2 sensor is mounted in a different location? The '92 has the O2 sensor just up stream from the Cat where as the '86 has it located at the bottom of the downpipe. The downpipe from my '86 would mate up with the '92 manifold. Any hope that this would work?
